EDITOR: On Nov. 5, voters in the Jefferson School District will select three board members to serve on the Jefferson School board for the next four years. These choices will echo the desire as to what direction and course the district should travel with regards to our children's education.
As a current Jefferson School District board member, whose term is expiring, I am pleased to report that our school district is in excellent condition and is being overseen by community members who are keeping our best interest in mind by focusing on education in the classroom. Two board members, R.G. Fagin and Todd Wetherell, have proven their commitment to this learning environment, which benefits students and usually exceeds parents' expectations. By running for another term, both have chosen to extend this commitment for four more years. Bringing experience and continuing to unselfishly serve their community and school district should make both individuals our first and second choice[s] for board members. Michelle Mercer has shown great interest in supporting this district by joining school orgainzations and attending board meetings and should be the third choice. It is important to select board members who will represent their entire constituency in the district and do not loose [sic] their focus by running on a single issue or by having a personal agenda.
If it is important for you to have schools that excel in education, have superior test scores, supoport strong traditions, exhibit fiscal responsibility, maintain safe environments and support teachers, all within a positive learning atmosphere, then please endorse incumbents R.G. Fagin and Todd Wetherell and welcome Michelle Mercer to the board by voting for all three in the Nov. 5 election.
