Ha!

Editor: This past election resulted in GOP gains in both the House and Senate, as well as retention of the Presidency (not to mention likely gains on the bench of the Supreme Court.) The bottom-line issue about which this election was purported to be was Moral Values.

With that as a backdrop, it becomes almost laughable to observe the actions of Republicans with their easing of House ethics rules in order to avoid requiring House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay to step down in accordance with existing rules which state that an indicted member may not serve in a leadership position. DeLay is the most notorious alleged violator of campaign election finance reform rules given his shady fund-raising tactics with the use of Political Action Committees and back-room deals with Corporate America.

What is most ironic is that DeLay was one of those leading the charge for campaign finance reform in the early '90s during the 'Contract with America.' Flip-flopper!
