Editor: If House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries, and my own Representative, Josh Harder expect House and Senate Republicans to forego party politics, uphold their constitutional oath of office and act for the good of our country, they must do the same, and follow the lead of their fellow Congressman Justin Amash, who has read the Special Counsel's Report and concluded that his constitutional duty demands his call for an Impeachment Inquiry, as Robert Mueller alluded to during his press conference on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, in which he stated, "...the Constitution requires a process other than the criminal justice system to formally accuse a sitting president of wrongdoing."
The political uncertainty of this course of action is undoubtedly high and risky, as Representative Amash can no doubt attest - at least for now, but of all possible outcomes, the best for Republicans would be to become national and historical heroes like Amash, and the worst for Democrats would be the re-election of Donald Trump following a lack of appropriate action by Congress to oust this menace to constitutional and institutional norms, the rule of law, and the future of our democracy.
