Not quite

Editor: In response to the letter to the editor by Joe Abreo, entitled “Foundation still is solid,” and published in Thursday’s Record, While I am not one who hates either God, or Christianity, I do have some bones to pick with both. Additionally, I hold very high esteem for truth and facts. Mr. Abreo’s statement that, “Christian principals, values and faith are foundational to the life and character of our country and our freedoms,” is in direct contradiction to the following official quote by the second president of the United States.

"The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." - From the Treaty of Tripoli, unanimously approved by the U.S. Senate and signed by President John Adams in 1797.

Makes one wonder if America is what it once was.
