Oh yes we do!

Editor: On Tuesday, January 24, US Congressman Richard Pombo was quoted in The Tri-Valley Herald, "The people in my district don’t care about all that stuff," referring to partisan politics and the Abramoff scandal.

Is he kidding? I reside in the 11th district, and I for one am deeply concerned with the level of corruption that appears to be rampant among elected officials at every level – federal on down, and am disgusted with the party-line mentality that polarizes the nation and results in gridlock, wasteful bureaucracy, inefficiency, and the deterioration of our physical and social infrastructure – including health care and education, and the disregard for the well-being of our environment.

If my representative is on the take, and Pombo's association with convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff is not the first indication that such may be the case, I care – and I vote.
