Editor: It has been argued that House Resources Chairman, Richard Pombo is no friend of the environment, and some might say he is full of hot air when discussing it. However we now have proof that there is little if any Hydrogen present in any of his long-winded remarks on environmental – or energy issues.
During Thursday's debate on the energy bill, Pombo was overheard dismissing a key provision of that bill – President Bush's $2 billion Hydrogen Fuel Cell initiative. His remark, beginning with "This is…" included the derogatory description alluded to in the title of this letter.
Pombo is well known for his proponent stance of opening the national wildlife refuge in Alaska to oil exploration and drilling to lessen our dependency on foreign energy. He has also been in the news lately regarding his support of other alternative fuel sources.
Perhaps if the investment were more profitable for he, his family or friends, there might be less methane in the air during his discussions on Hydrogen.
