Don't be stupid

Editor: In lieu of the many recent Supreme Court decisions trampling on property rights, upholding Row v. Wade, and undermining the Judeo-Christian foundation of our nation, it is my wish that our president do not seek to find a consensus, so-called moderate candidate, to replace the very disappointing Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, who is retiring.

While we like to parrot the words of the infamous Rodney King, "Can't we all just get along?" the answer to such simplistic arguments is no.

In a nation where the rule of law is to make all of us equal (at least in theory), the imperial court has determined that some property rights are worth defending, while it is quite all right to steal from others in the name of eminent domain. Where is the room to compromise on such moral issues?

Three decades ago, the Supreme Court elevated the murder of the unborn to the level of a constitutional right. Justices such as O'Connor believe such a travesty should remain law because other courts since that day of infamy have made the same mistake, and have established a precedent where we condone murder and call it reproductive rights. I have never found such rights in the Constitution, although the majority of justices have. Where is there room to compromise on the slaughter of the innocent? Do we cut abortion in half and only exterminate half as many, and call it just? Should America have compromised with Adolf Hitler and told him it would be permissible if he only killed 3 million Jews instead of 6 million?

There is no room for compromise with such men as Sen. Ted Kennedy and former President Bill Clinton, who trample on our sacred values and our rights in order to conform the world to their image. When they were in power, they put Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the court without caring about a compromise nominee. If and when Americans become foolish and return such politicians to power, this type of justices will be placed again on the bench. It is our hour, and President Bush should nominate a justice who defends the founding principles of our nation. To do otherwise will only make us stupid and continue this nations's slide into moral decay.
