Unsafe for our children

EDITOR: Every afternoon the streets of Glenbriar Estates are full of children playing. However, on Thursday we heard a different sound - that of police sirens blaring as we watched three police cars tear through the neighborhood at high rates of speed. We were extremely dismayed to read the report in Friday's Tracy Press that this was not in response to someone's distress or danger but a police chase of two individuals on the basis of outstanding warrants.

Based on the report, there was no threat of immediate danger to any other individuals. Yet the Tracy Police chose to make the situation into one that very well could place other individuals in danger as they proceeded to chase through our neighborhood at the time of the afternoon when school is letting out and children are out playing. Does the police department think so little of our children's safety that they would fly through our neighborhood endangering so many for the sake of arresting one individual. We thought that police were there to protect and serve. Yet, it would appear that if anyone is making our streets unsafe it is the police, not those with outstanding warrants.
